"Understanding Your

Sphere of Perfection"

One of the greatest misconceptions in life is the old adage: “You can become anything you want to be.” Explain to me how a man standing five feet four inches tall with little to no athletic ability can create a career for himself in the professional ranks of basketball? Some things in life just aren’t for us no matter how bad we want them.

To the contrary, there’s the young adolescent player who walks in the gym, barely practices, and proceeds to dismantling every opponent who steps in his path on the basketball court...

Fear of the ‘pretty face’

In a recent conversation I had with a good friend, he told me of a gorgeous woman he saw in a grocery store. She was a jaw-dropping traffic stopper. My friend’s description of events on this day was that every man she passed displayed a noticeable change in their demeanor--resulting from their encounter with such a pretty face. He then began describing how men-- with their wife and kids or alone--acted as if time stopped when this beautiful woman passed them.

Some of these men could have talked to her. But no one did anything but pause in admiration or alter their shopping route to catch an additional glimpse--letting her slip away without saying a word...

"Playing Your Hand"

There’s no getting around it. We are all dealt a hand in life. From our physical attributes, talents, capacities, and innate way we see and navigate our way through life. This is what comprises our life’s hand.

"The Power of Focus"

As Lebron James and the Miami Heat’s 2012 NBA championship win is still on the minds of so many, I am reminded of the unending focus it took to accomplish such a feat. The most tangible reminder was the mouth piece Lebron James wore with the roman numerals XVI that represented the amount of games the Heat had to win in order to capture the NBA’s ultimate crown...

"The Opportunity In The Recession"

During yesterday’s LinkedIn town hall meeting, a myriad of questions concerning the current state of the economy were presented to President Obama. The president spoke of how economist predicted a three percent upswing for the year 2011, and how this economic improvement has yet to surface. One of President Obama’s statements brought to light what I believe to be a solution not concrete in nature, but definitely worth exploring. "American success is premised on individuals who have a great idea, going out there and pursuing their dreams and making a whole lot of money in the process. That’s great. It’s part of what makes America so successful.”...
